Bid writing

I write responses to calls for tender issued by the European Commission and UK government agencies and departments.

Winning bids do not only fulfil all the requestor's requirements credibly. Winning bids communicate a deep understanding of the stakes and the challenges. Their methodology projects strong analytical capability. They are framed by a coherent message that brings consistency and enhances readability.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

I have honed my bid writing skills while working on grant applications. I notably won a British Academy Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. It is the most prestigious postdoctoral grant for the social sciences and humanities in the UK.

I have led multiple winning bids to the European Commission and its agencies as well as for UK government departments and agencies. The value of those winning bids has ranged from £20k to €1.4m.

I have built international bidding teams including contributors from Europe, the US and Asia.

I have worked with a wide variety of technical and thematic experts to build strong, relevant methodological approaches and robust delivery teams. These have included academic experts from hard sciences (public health, nutrition, animal health, toxicology, plant biology, data science) as well as social sciences (law & economics, agricultural economics, public administration, political economy, sociology, anthropology, political science). I have also worked with developers on proposals to develop web and smartphone applications.
